From the perspective of cognitive linguistics, this paper is intended to explore two aspects concerning the English delexical verb structure, i.e. its bounding function and embodied-cognitive foundations. The analysis reveals that with the help of the indefinite article, this structure performs a bounding function by virtue of the constraint on the quantity of action depicted by the eventive noun. Furthermore, the embodied-cognitive foundations are manifested in three dimensions, i.e. episodic prominence with process as base, adjustment of plexity and virtuality of bounding.
