In the aqueous solutions Fe(m) combines with tetrabutyl ammonium bromide and KSCN into a ternary ion association precipitate [Fe (SCN)6 ] [ TBAB ]3. In the presence of (NH4 )2 SO4, the precipitate was floated well on the surface of water phase to make the system to divide into liquid phase and sold phase with a distinct boundary layer. Fe (llI ) could be quantitatively separated from V ( Ⅴ ) , Ir ( Ⅳ ), Pt ( Ⅳ ) and Ru (Ⅲ) by floatation. And 98.2% floatation percentage of Fe( Ⅲ ) were obtained when the concentrations of tetrabutyl ammonium bromide and KSCN in solution were 0.8 mmol/L and 7.0 m mol/L, respectively.
