Frequency of civilians＇ reading to some degree is a reflection of a country＇s cultivation and value orientation. In recent years, the lower frequency of civilians＇ reading has drawn more and more attention. This phenomenon results from the muhiplicty of media, the profitable tendency of reading, vulgarity of reading contents and high price of books. Therefore, the government should accordingly take measures to give full play to the present cultural infrastructure. Moreover, authors, editors and publishers also have to raise their awareness of responsibility.
