Based on literature reviews and human capital theory, this paper puts forward two assumptions about the relationship between education and being laid-off. One is that education is negative with being laid-off,and the other is that the rate of being laid-off employees with high school certificate is higher than those with secondary vocational education. Then through statistic and econometric analysis of CHIP-2002 data,it demonstrates the correctness of the two assumptions. The implication of the paper is that individuals should increase investment in education in order to reduce the risk of unemployment, and shouldn't abandon higher education because of the difficulty of graduates' employment.
