研究目的：分析湖北省城市化与生态环境交互耦合的时空变异特点。研究方法：文献资料法、耦合协调度模型。研究成果：（1）2006年湖北省各地级市的耦合度范围在0．4075-0．5903之间，属颉抗和磨合型，而耦合协调度以中、低为主。（2）1997年以前湖北省城市化与生态环境耦合度呈弱倒“U”型，系统的耦合协调度逐渐增大；1997年后，耦合度呈回升趋势，2001年接近0．5，受生态环境的制约，耦合协调度有降低的趋势。研究结论：城市化与生态环境具有明显的耦合特性，其结果对推进区域城市化与生态环境的协调发展具有指导意义。
英文摘要：
The purpose of the paper is to analyze the spatio-temporal variation characteristic of coupling degree between urbanization and eco-environment in Hubei Province. Methods of documentation, coupling harmonious degree were employed. The results indicate that： （1） the coupling degrees of 17 cities were in the range of 0.4075-0.5903 in 2006, which belong to conflietion and amelioration type, and the coupling degrees of coordination were mainly moderate and low; （2）the coupling degree for urbanization and eeo-environment in Hubei Province took on inverse ＂U＂ shape before 1997 and had been gradually increasing. After 1997, the coupling degree took on a rising trend and up to 0.5 in 2001 while the coupling degree of coordination was on decreasing trend due to the constrains of the eco-environment. It is concluded that urbanization and ecological environment show obvious coupling characteristics and the result is important to promote harmonious development of regional urbanization and ecological environment.
