A pattern generation method is proposed based on the combination of evolutionary art and fractal technology in order to make it convenient for designers to create wall mural pattern artworks with visual impact.First a hierarchically structured genotype is applied to represent cycloid parameters,and selection and mutation operators with evolutionary art are used to generate diverse patterns.Those with higher user rating are stored into the pattern database.Then fractal theory is introduced to configure these patterns on the basis of two distinct methods—Pythagoras tree design and Curlicue Fractal design.Finally a wall mural design system—PaintDesigner is demonstrated.
