企业跨越地理边界搜索新知识的活动是目前研究关注的热点,但已有文献对于地理跨界搜索能否促进企业创新存在着争议。为了解决这些争议,指出地理跨界搜索与企业创新之间的关系并非是简单的线性关系,而是存在着U型关系,同时二者的关系受到外部市场环境的影响。利用270家制造企业的样本进行了实证研究,结果发现:地理跨界搜索与企业创新存在着U型关系;行业增长对二者关系存在着消极调节作用;并没有发现行业竞争强度对二者关系存在显著的调节作用。
Geography boundary-spanning search is the focus of current research. Researchers have a debate on the relationship between geography boundary-spanning search and product innovation. To address this controversy, this paper suggests that the relationship between the geography boundary-spanning search and product innovation is not linear, but follows a u-shaped pattern. Meanwhile this relationship is moderated by external market environment.Using an original data set of 270 manufacturing firms in China, we find that:(1) The relationship between geography boundary-spanning search and innovation follows a u-shaped pattern;(2) Industry growth negatively moderates this relationship, whereas the moderating role of industry competition intensity is not significant.
