Because of heterogeneity and complexity of service,the status of service in economic development,that is,whether service is an impetus or an obstacle for economic growth,is still a problem under dispute.This paper generalizes and summarizes some main viewpoints on the status of service development mentioned in ＂service economy＂ theory and ＂non-service economy＂ theory,and comments on these two theories.
