Based on time-series, this paper uses the share of financial service trade, TC index, RCA index, financial service trade liberalization and competitive advantage index in net banking international assets to comparatively analyze the financial service competitiveness between Mainland China and Hong Kong from cross-border supply and commercial presence modes. It finds that the financial service trade competitiveness of the mainland lags behind Hong Kong in two modes, and the financial service trade sectors of the two regions are faced with increasing challenges after joining the WTO. Finally, it puts forth the suggestion of developing a mutual and interactive relationship of the two financial systems in order to enhance China＇ s financial service trade competitiveness.
