In order to clarify the long-term effects of copper on organisms living conditions and physical characteristics, the Caenorhabditis elegans was treated by adding a certain concentration of Cu ( CuSO4· 5 H2O) , and at last, the nematode with one strong tolerance to Cu were got. The reproductivity of this kind of nematode was significantly reduced, malonic dialdehyde(MDA) was significantly increased, superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione S-transferase (GST) activity significantly reduced, and citric acid which could chelate heavy metal to complexity was significantly increased.
