An improved synthetic method of novel ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetracarbonylcobahate is developed to overcome certain remaining disadvantages in literature strategy. This enables reproducable synthesis of the topical compound of high purity, and as a result, further comprehensive spectral characterization could also be accomplished for the first time, which would give rise to deeper understanding of the nature and behavior of the compound, and further applications in related areas.
