This paper introduces the basic concept and intention of computational thinking and major measures of cultivating computational thinking ability by American government,and analyzes the key problems of today＇s computer foundation curriculum in Chinese universities. Teaching design of university computer foundation curriculum based on computational thinking is proposed, which includes： computational thinking is run through all teaching activities of university computer foundation curriculum,teaching content design is concentrated on cultivating computational thinking; choices of teaching methods, teaching media and teaching cases are directed by revealing the essence of computational thinking.
