The paper, from two current phenomena of undergraduate mathematics education, analyzes the three functions of history of mathematics that this course can demonstrate the nature of mathematics, serve as one of the best heuristic method of teaching, and represent the culture of mathematics. The following measures should be taken to enhance the quality of teaching the course: teachers should improve their attainments about history of mathematics, adopt modem teaching methods to better display the course contents, learn from masters of mathematics to understand the essence and method of mathematics, and emphasize the importance of mathematical thinking.
