The paper analyzed the operation environment and main fault modes of the mechanical arms of a space shuttle and simulated its health monitoring principles, locations and main fault modes. In combination with the simulation results, the paper designed a health monitoring system for the mechanical arms of a space shuttle by using the graphic program language of LabVIEW.
