Foreign language teacher education and their professional development have become a matter of concern in New English curriculum reform. Much light is thrown on teaching portfolio assessment commonly used and spread in America,its theoretical ground, practical background and its definition. Constructing of a teaching portfolio and implementation of teaching portfolio assessment are focused on in it for the purpose of facilitating teachers＇ professional growth as a physical form to cultivate their awareness of self-directed learning,self-regulating and self-evaluation.
