Based on translational medicine, the main task, research area and the key problem for the development and innovation about the subject of Chinese Materia Medica （CMM） processing have been discussed in this article. Equal attention has been paid to inherit and innovate CMM processing. The development of basic scientific research and industrial innovation have been promoted to ensure the rational clinical application of the processed product. The promotion of modernization and internationalization of traditional Chinese medicine is the important way of CMM processing development.
