Western contemporary garden festival was born with the vast reconstruction of Western cities at the end of the Second World War. In the past 70 years, Western garden festival has undergone a great progress under various stages of urban regeneration and established a close connection. Currently, with a growing quantity and scale, garden festival is sprawling rapidly in the cities of China.Under the background of the crucial stage in urban regeneration, the study analyzed the linkage between Western garden festivals and urban regeneration, taking German, the Netherlands and the UK as cases, to summarize the main features of garden festival on the perspective of unban regeneration, listed as: strategic, epochal, open and resilient, and further conclude to the mode of how garden festival impact on urban regeneration, providing constructive references for future garden festivals and urban regeneration in China.
