Inorganic fullerene-like MoS2 nano-spheres were obtained by the reaction of commercial MoO3 powder and S in argon atmosphere under well-controlled conditions. The average diameter size of the nano-particles is between 100 and 200 nm. The shape of MoSz is decided by reaction temperature and the flow regime. The growth mechanism was proposed for the formation of these nano-particles. IF-MoS2 nano-particles were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope and HRTEM.
