Writing unofficial national history is a kind of complex that never goes away for Chinese writers. In thenew era, there is not much fundamental change in novelists＇ intension to narrate national history; what has beenchanged is the conception of history and ways of expression. Alai is one of the newly emerging writers of ＂unofficialnational history＂.
