The unique biopharmaceutical characteristics of drug nanocrystals showed in the progress of in vivo absorption and distribution have attracted wide attentions of researchers. This paper reviews the absorption characteristics of drug nanocrystals in the human bodies, the effects of administration routes and the applications to targeted delivery researches. It is useful to understand the biopharmaceutical characteristics of drug nanocrystals more deeply and to guide the development of the formulation of drug nanocrystals.
