Patent association helps to identify potential competitors and collaborators and discribe the overall competition situation of a spe-cific industry. Firstly, patent pssociation analysis methods for industry competition are introduced in the thesis, including industry structure analysis, technological similarity analysis and patent collaborator network analysis. Then an industry competition pattern analysis system is designed, which allows a rigorous and systematic way of studying patent association thus helps to explore the relationship of competition and collaboration among enterprises within an industry hidden in patent data. The result can help to reveal the competition trend and pat-terns within an industry. Finally, the application process of the method is verified by an example in LTE field.
