The English pronunciation of English learners in China can be affected by their dialects. Northeastern dialect, similar to Mandarin, belongs to Northern dialect, and Shenyang is the most typical city in northeastern provinces. Therefore, the paper analyzes and compares the formants and durations of monophthongs produced by English learners in Shenyang and native English speakers, so as to find out how Shenyang dialect can affect the monophthong pronunciation of English learners.
