The paper studied the effect of fluorinated elastomer(PPA), a kind of vinylidene fluoride-hexafluoropropylene -tetrafluoroethylene terpolymer, on rheological behavior of linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) melt by changing content of PPA. The research discovers that adding PPA can reduce extrusion pressure and the extrusion swelling ratio of the melt, and especially can increase critical shearing rate without aggravating the unstable flow phenomena, involving sharkskin distortion and the extrusion pressure oscillation. These advantages make the processing scope of LLDPE be expanded. In the case of adding sufficient dosage of PPA, the sharkskin distortion even can be eliminated completely.
