Kang Ning is an anomaly among Australia Chinese writers. Her novel is different from description of homesickness of new immigrant literature, and from Australian Chinese literature that depicts the shallow of flashy new world. It has concerns about universal human problems in terms of the time, space and destiny, and thus provides the important specimen of overseas Chinese literature on postmodern practice.
