组织复杂性与企业绩效的关系

传统企业理论认为不同企业绩效的差异来源于“内生”机制,环境作为“外生”变量在其复杂变化的条件下尚不能成有效的解释理论。本文在组织复杂性研究成果基础上,提出组织内、外部复杂性匹配与企业绩效之间关系的两维矩阵和倒U曲线簇假设;以中国上市公司中的建筑企业为案例进行了实证分析。研究证实了在相同的环境复杂性情况下,企业绩效和组织复杂性之间的关系不是简单的倒U型曲线关系,而是分层次的倒U曲线簇;处于不同层次的绩效最佳的企业所对应的组织复杂性值相近。

英文摘要:

Traditional firm theory considered the difference of firms performance as result of "endogenesis dynamics", and business environment thought as "exdogenesis" variable but failed to form an explanation theory. This article proposes two hypothesizes about the relationship between complexity of internal or external organization and firm performance, that is to say, the relationship is subjected to two dimension matrix and upside down U curve. With the use of 17 Chinese listed estate companies data, this research confirms the two hypothesizes and finds existence of multi-level upside down U curves, the best performance company belonging to each level upside down U curve has close degree of organizational complexity, company has best performance when organizational complexity fitting with business environment complexity, and is moderated by business environment complexity.
