A method for numerically solving miscible displacement in porous media is presented and analyzed using a combination of the method of characteristics with the dynamic finite-element method. Different numbers of elements and basis functions are implemented at different levels. It makes the grid refinements or non-refinements and function adjustments possible at any necessary time. Convergence analysis and error estimates are established.
