Pile-plate retaining wall is widely used in the construction of highway in mountainous area. The effectiveness of the retaining structure of the pile wall of slope section is often ignored by engineering technicians,and the safety and economy of the engineering will be considered. As an example of practical engineering in the paper,the method to determine the effective embedded depth is proposed by using approximate calculation method based on ultimate balance principle,and the desired results are achieved.
