Clan association establishes geopolitical alliance under the minimum condition of having the same ancestors, and based on the degree of lineage tracing, geopolitical interests and family＇ s surname, it can be classified into three types. An investigation of clan association in Hakka inhabited area with group characteristics shows that group identity will influence clan association and form a type of clan association under the same surname with Hakka identification. Hence, in the adjacent areas of Jiangxi, Fujian and Guangdong provinces, there are four types of clan associations.
