The relationship between the bank's new business strategy and the performance of different bank strategic groups as well as its action mechanism is an important issue that worthwhile to explore. The empirical test result in this paper shows that the extent of the bank's new business strategy has positive im- pact on the performance through the intermediary role of the operating cost and revenue ratio. In the same level of new business strategies development, the performance of the joint - stock commercial banks is much better than that of large state - owned commercial banks, and new business development cannot disperse the fluctua- tions risk of the performance effectively.
