By analyzing the background and experience of the funding support and management performance evaluation of the US National Science Foundation(NSF) and Japan Society for the Promotion of Science(JSPS),we sum up the commonality characteristics and enlightenments,including the crucial impact of the state system reform background,the adoption of the basic logic framework of "target-result",using the support and management as the main content domain of performance evaluation,combining self evaluation with external expert evaluation,adoption of the performance information collection mechanism with qualification and quantification combined,rational choice of the evaluation period according to the system scenario characteristics,making public the evaluation result,and adequate combining the result with budget.
