The main factors of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene(UHMWPE) artificial hip joint invalidation were analyzed. The wear mechanism of UHMWPE artificial hip joint was introduced, and the most frequently used solutions which could reduce the wear of UHMWPE, involving irradiated cross-linking modification, α-tocopherol anti-oxidation, composite enhancement and lubrication were presented.
