Steel slag is a solid waste discharged in large quantities by the iron and steel industry in China. With the implementation of the state Eleventh Five-Year Plan and the state's medium and long term program for the future development, the recycling of steel slag will inevitably become an important measure for the energy environment protection and therefore will be of great significance. Through the description of the analysis of the composition of steel slag, the research on steel slag and the state quo of its utilization, the paper illustrates the important role of the techniques such as magnetic separation, ball mill grinding and the acceleration of the steel slag hydration by excitant in the research on using uhrafine steel slag as a blending material in producing high performance concrete. The recycling of steel slag will become a major growth point in the recycle economy and will be sure to bring an enormous economic benefit to the whole society.
