For the bridge expansion project, choosing the right reinforced concrete can ensure the requirement of bearing capacity designs, and save the cost effectively. Four PPC beams with improved ordinary reinforcing bars and concrete grades were chosen as subjects for bending test. By analysing the mechanical properties of deflection, stiffness and combined with economic analysis, bridge renovation project if under static load or with few passing vehicles can be optimized to improve the ordinary steel grade.
