本文从“胡焕庸线”这一地理学的概念出发,以基于沿“胡焕庸线”垂直递减假说而量化的生态承载力作为核心解释变量,选取中国大陆30个省会城市和直辖市(未含拉萨市)2003—2013年间的面板数据,用固定效应和随机效应模型分别实证了经济集聚与环境质量的关系,用固定效应向量分解模型分别实证了生态承载力与经济集聚、生态承载力与环境质量的关系。结果表明,城市环境质量是生态承载力和与之相关的经济集聚共同作用的结果,较高的生态承载力会提高地区的经济集聚能力。
Starting from the concept of Hu line, the authors take the quantified ecological carrying capacity as the key explanatory variable based on the hypothesis that the ecological carrying capacity descends vertically along the Hu Line. On account of the panel data of China's 30 provincial capital cities and municipalities during 2003-2013, the relationship between economic agglomeration and environmental quality is empirically demonstrated by the fixed effect and random effect models, and the relationship between ecological carrying capacity and economic agglomeration, ecological carrying capacity and environmental quality is empirically tested with the FEVD model. Results show that the urban environmental quality is the consequence of the ecological carrying capacity and the related economic agglomeration. The higher the ecological carrying capacity of the region is, the stronger the ability of economic agglomeration will be.
