Through the chronological and graphic analysis of‘xu ＇and‘gong ＇, the present paper suggests that＂ ＂in the‘Rongzhong＇fangding（rectangular-shaped）should be interpreted as‘gong ＇instead of‘xu ＇, which means a residential place rather than a temple. In the inscription‘Emperor glorifies Rong Zhong ＇,‘gong ＇is the king＇s award to Rong Zhong.
