Making use of Aspan Plus simulation tools and a mathematical model for operation mode changes of methanol/ electricity polygeneration systems, simulation calculation of four different variants of system configurations, including series and parallel connections, as well as changes of elements have been calculated and their electric output variation capabilities compared in detail. The sequence of the four configuration variants in terms of diminishing order of regulation capability are in succession: the parallel connection variant with shift reactor, the series connection variant with shift reactor, the parallel connection variant without shift reactor, and the series connection variant without shift reactor.
