For the purpose of comparing the technical and economic performances of new types of production systems, singularly producing dimethyl ether, with those coupled with Co-production, a one-step dimethyl ether synthesis system, based on LPDME pulp bed, has been designed and modeled. An ec.anomic analysis of three types of dimethyl ether synthesis has been conducted, which shows that the relative energy saving rate of the new type DME/power co-production amounts to 0.34% as compared to the LPDME system. Assuming the current price of natural gas to be 0.66 Yuan/Nm^3 and that of electric power 0.25 Yuan/kWh, production cost of the dirnethyl ether/power co-production system would be lowest for a presupposed production scale of 200,000 tons of dimethyl ether per year. Analysis results indicate that in districts, where there is plenty of cheap natural gas, the new type of dimethyl ether production system has certain economic advantages. Figs6, tables 3 and refs 15.
