This article analyzed the problems in renewal of Bayu historic towns.With the basic principle of organic renewal,taking the needs of inhabitants＇ daily life as the primary point,this article then brought forward a method of gradual dynamic small-scale renewal.It emphasized some issues included： restoration of the holistic inhabited environment of historic town,continuation of inhabitants＇ social net and renewal of economy.It finally discussed a way to renew the space construction in traditional building groups organically with the example of Wu＇s courtyard of Longtan Historic town in Youyang.
