＂ A Journey to the Immortal＂,a famous Chinese vernacular fiction,represents the overall appearance of the language used in the middle of the Qing Dynasty. Four frequently used adverbs ＂ Ji,Tai,Shen,and Po＂,are chosen from this novel to make comparison with modern Chinese adverbs. It is concluded that they are different in the use of frequency,meaning,combination,and syntactic functions,etc.
