英文摘要：
Aim The study of the relationship between Tate and the Physical Review provides historical reference to the study of science communication.Methods Textual research and analysis on the original literatures.Results John Torrence Tate（1889—1950） was a Managing Editor of several journals of American Physical Society.This paper is an outline of his life and his contribution to Physical Review.Tate insisted the principle that a research is not completed until the results are published.Under his guidance and editorship,the American Physical Society founded two new journals,and Physical Review went from edge to center of the physical journals.Conclusion The growth of American physics and Physical Review came along together,both very influential today.The development of science may be attributed to scientific research and scientific communication as well.
