Industrial heritage contains numerous industry sectors. Each sector has its own distinctive industrial characteristics. This paper studies the modern iron and steel smelting industry sector, and clarifies its heritage characteristics through the research on history and industrial technology. It also analyses the contents that should be paid attention in this sector＇s heritage value evaluation and protection, from the perspectives of historical, social, cultural and scientific value. Finally, it demonstrates and explains material evidences in this sector＇s heritage protection.
