城镇化是缩小城乡二元经济结构的重要途径，是当前中国转变经济增长方式的重要抓手。西北地区城镇化发展水平低于东中部地区和全国平均水平，城镇化发展的速度也低于东中部地区和全国平均水平。本文从城镇化动力机制层面，利用面板数据计量方法分析西北五省区城镇化动力机制，探寻制约西北五省区城镇化发展的深层原因，以期对稳妥推进西北五省区城镇化进程提供理论支持。
英文摘要：
The urbanization is the important means of narrowing the dual economic structure, the important way in China＇s current economic growth mode transformation. Northwest urbanization level is lower than the eastern and central regions and the national average, the speed of urbanization is also lower than the eastern and central re- gions and the national average. This paper analyses motive mechanism of urbanization with panel data measurement method of the five northwestern provinces, provides reasons of lower urbanization in five northwestern provinces, with a view to providing a theoretical support on promoting the five northwestern provinces and autonomous regions on the steady process of urbanization
