Death is one of the most important themes in the 20th century American literature. Many writers devote themselves to describe the scene of death, to express the absurdity of it or to reflect seriously about the loss of grieving o- ver human's death. Also, the characters~ consciousness of death is interwoven with their status of nation, race and gen- der. Then concerns about the problem of death are not only an exit for writers to express their sole experiences, but also a demonstration of direction pointing to transcend death and pursuit eternal values, which shows the depth and infinite possibilities of life.
