Based on analyzing the concept of so- cial service in archival profession, the article ex- pounds the theoretical foundation of social service in archival profession. The foundation include Theo- ry of Service Outsourcing, Theory of Records Life Cycle, Theory of Social Division of Labor, Theory of New Public Administration, and Theory of Public Choice.
