Based on the surveying data in Haizhou Bay area during a period from March 2011 to December 2012, the catch composition of the set-net along the coastal water and the resource utilization of Haizhou Bay was determined and analyzed, respectively. The results showed that the species composition in catches varied obviously among seasons. The dominant species included Syngnathus acus, Ambl ychaeturichth ys hexanema , Charybdis bimaculata , Octopus variabilis, Enedrias f angi and Oratosquilla oratoria in spring, Larimichth ys pol yactis , Ambl ychaeturichth ys hexanema , Portunus trituberculatus , Loligo japonica and Trach ypenaeus curvirostris in autumn, and Ambl ychaeturichth ys he:canema , Oratosquilla oratoria , Alpheus heterocarpus, Leptochela gracilis and Alpheus Japonicus in winter. The yield of most commercial fish L. polyactis peaked in September and October; but only 1% of the caught reached the allowable body length. Similarly, the major commercial shrimp T. curvirostris reached the highest yield in September and October. A total of 69.46 % of the caught T. shrimp reached were sexually matured in 2011. The fishing log records showed that the September single vessel average net production achieved the maximum, 17.01kg/net, the November average net production decreased to the minimum, 2. 87kg/net. We suggest that the mesh size of codend should be enlarged, eco-fishing gear and methods should be utilized, the management for the traditional fishing gear should be enhanced, and the management of offshore resource should be strengthened.
