The solar cell is a device converting solar energy directly into electrical energy, also is an effective way to use solar energy. As a kind of green energy, especially in nuclear security problems facing challenges today, solar cells are thought to be the best choice to solve the energy failure and environmental pollution and so on. At present, many countries are drafting long-term solar development plan, and prepare to develop large-seale solar energy in the 21st century. Silicon solar cells (such as monoerystalline silicon, polycrystalline silicon, amorphous silicon, etc. ) are widely used. Through comparing and discussing all kinds of silicon solar battery performance, technology, the efficiency of conversion from aspects and preparation methods and their properties of the advantages and disadvantages, various silicon solar cell research present situation and the latest progress are reviewed. Finally, the silicon solar battery research and production prospects and trends are discussed.
