A lanthanide complex[Eu（NIPH）（Suc）0.5（H2O）]n（NIPH is 5-nitroisophthalic acid;Suc is succinic acid）has been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and was characterized by X-ray diffraction single crystal structure analysis,elemental analysis and IR spectra.The title complex crystallizes in C2/c space group,with a=2.112 70（8）nm,b=0.900 27（3）nm,c=1.358 12（5）nm,α=90°,β=105.585 0（10）°,γ=90°,V=2.488（2）nm3,Z=8.The photoluminescent property and the thermogravimetric analysis of the complex were anlysized in detail.
