Northeast Township in Gaomi County , the fictional place in Mo Yan ’ s works, has its own system which is endowed with supernatural powers and loaded with the author ’ s strong emotions for local civilization , whether affection or hatred , resistance or attachment .Big Breasts and Wide Hips, the family story centered on the mother Shangguan Lu matters most among all Northeast Township stories , which is most representative of the local civilization in this area .In this work , while the chasteness view “chasteness matters more than star-vation” is in conflict with the desire for survival , fertility, love, and sex, it loses its original power .In Mo Yan’s novels, the chasteness views in Northeast Township is more humane and embodies more practical eth -ics.
