In Mo Yan’s novels,a series of populace female images have been created.They have a legendary character and experience.Mo Yan’s populace woman,often appearing as visual body images in the account of the narrator or characters,only exist as objects of men’s desire.But Mo Yan does not forget to dig out their spiritual quality,such as the instinctive love impulse,chivalry,etc.As for the populace women,Mo Yan’s treatment is ambiguous.On the one hand,he is deeply attracted by them,so they sometimes may not be con-strained by the existing gender hierarchy;on the other hand,he shows a fear of women,so he is confined to the existing gender hierarchy and punishes them stealthily.
