成语作为中国语言文化中不可或缺的一部分,在莫言作品《丰乳肥臀》中起到了画龙点睛的作用。同时,因成语有言简意赅、寓意丰富的特点,使得成语翻译成为文学翻译中的一个难点。本文通过对葛译本《丰乳肥臀》中的成语翻译进行分析,说明葛浩文在翻译时充分考虑中西方文化差异,立足于西方读者,采用以归化为主,异化为辅的翻译策略,同时为达到与原文同等的效果,运用了大量的翻译技巧,使得译文流畅通顺,忠实自然,为中国文学“走出去”做出了贡献。

Idioms are the indispensable part of Chinese language culture which plays a key role in Mo Yan＇s Big Breasts and Wide Hips. It is a key point to translate idioms accurately in the literary translation because idioms have characteristics of concise and the implication of them are rich. Discussing on the translations of idioms in the Howard Goldblatt＇s version, the paper illustrates that Howard Goldblatt takes a full consideration of the differences between Chinese and Western culture and based on target readers, he insists that domestication method predominates over the forciguization method in translating idioms. In order to get the same effect between original text and target text, C, oldblatt adopts a multitude of translation techniques to make English version to be read smoothly and unaffected. Howard Goldblatt makes a great attribution to let Chinese literature be familiar to the world.
